You may have seen my post featuring Dermalogica’s most brightening and stunning eye serum . However, I was also gifted a winter skin routine from Dermalogica which I want to share with you.
This winter skin routine is absolutely perfect for all skin types and has really agreed with my skin. However it should be noted they selected these key products from their range for my dry/combination sensitive skin. If you don’t know your skin type you can find out here. I have been really enjoying using this selection. I think some of these products if not all of them; would make great additions to your current routine or would also make a great place to start your skincare routine.
Dermalogica Winter Skin Routine
Step 1: Dermalogica Pre-cleanse
I don’t always like to start with the best products, usually we save the best til last but this one is without a doubt my favourite in this whole skincare routine. The pre-cleanse is a cleansing oil which comes in a lockable pump top bottle, I think this dispenses the perfect amount of oil to remove your makeup with just one pump. The cleanser smells absolutely divine; do you remember those green coloured starbursts? Those were always my favourite ones anyway, but this cleanser smells just like them with a light citrus scent. This cleanser is a strong competitor for top spot on my favourite cleansers list, you can find my opinions on this cleansing oil here.
Step 2: Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel
My first thoughts on this product was that I was a little unsure how this would perform on my skin. I read that this was a foaming cleanser and I have in the past experienced dry skin from foaming cleansers. But Dermalogica have clearly come up with the ultimate non-drying formula. This cleanser does not have much of a scent but a little goes a long way. This is perfect alone as a cleanser or mixed with (step 3) the daily microfoliant.
Step 3: Daily Microfoliant
First impressions of the daily microfoliant completely blew me away. For great reasons, I was expecting a scrubby and abrasive exfoliant. However, what I experienced was a lightweight powder formula which is mixed with water to create a paste which is massaged into the skin gently without abrasion and becomes a gentle foam before rinsing away. This exfoliant can be mixed in different ratios with water to enhance the “scrubbiness” of the exfoliant to reach your desired consistency. This is my opinion is the perfect exfoliant for those with irritated, sensitive or skin which is susceptible to redness. You can find my Youtube video featuring it here.
Step 4: Redness relief Essence
The Dermalogica Redness relief essence is exactly what is says on the tin. It helps reduce the signs of redness and is ultra calming perfect following the above step. The essence is lightweight similar to a toner but richer in consistency similar to a serum. This step helps rebalance the skin, calm, nourish and prepare the skin for the next steps.
Step 5: Barrier Defense Booster
The Dermalogica Barrier defense booster is one which I had not heard of before receiving it in PR. This comes with a screw top and a button depressor on the bottom for dispensing. I really like the idea of this, helping ‘dose’ the perfect amount of serum and creating more spill-proof packaging. This is a daily night serum, it is quite thick in consistency but helps lock in moisture personally I have been using this mainly at night but in the mornings when my skin has needed a little hydration boost or help achieving a glowing complexion. I think this is perfect for a night skin routine
Step 6: Skin Smoothing Cream
The skin smoothing cream is new to their moisturiser collection featuring 48 hours of hydration. The moisturiser has a new technology which is designed to protect from environmental stresses. This moisturiser is lightweight and a drink for the skin. I think this is a universally beautiful moisturiser which is fab for all skin types with boosts from Hyaluronic acid, vitamins C and E.
