Armani Luminous Silk Foundation Review

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation Review

This is not a new launch at all, in fact the original Armani Luminous Silk Foundation launched in the year 2000. When quite frankly I probably didn’t know much about foundation other than my mum uses it. But for many many reasons this iconic launch has stood the test of time.

Now you’re wondering why am I talking about it now? Well firstly because this is my hands down favourite foundation at the minute. It has been for around a year now, there are some strong contenders including the Clarins everlasting youth fluid (youtube video featuring for more info), but it doesn’t have the same finish as the Armani. When I have spoken to a lot of you. I’ve been told you have not tried this foundation. To me this is mind blowing because once I tried this foundation I never really looked back.

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation Finish

Inspired by a luxury fabric, Armani designed their flawless foundation around the concept of a glowing and unified complexion. Their foundation is a true lightweight formula like none other that I have tried. It is also a glowing lit from within finish too. Without being dewy or glossy. This foundation can most certainly still benefit from the use of vitamin C or glowing primers and highlighters. But this foundation really is like your own skin but better.

Coverage and Shade Range

The foundation is a light to medium coverage but is easily buildable. Having said that you cannot fully achieve a full coverage finish with this foundation and if that is what you are looking for then perhaps this foundation isn’t for you. This foundation really blurs imperfections and evens skin texture and colour with ease.

There are 30 shades in the collection which gives a good shade range coverage. I think this foundation has a lot of shade variation in the lighter shades, so if you often struggle to get a shade match because you are so pale you will probably find a good match within this foundation. If you have dark skin I think the darker shade range is a little lacking which is a shame. The other down side to the shade range is that all of the shades are either neutral or have warm undertones. So those of you with cool undertones and like a cool foundation may not find a shade to fit perfectly either. There is a little guide on finding your undertones here.

My Shade and Testing

I have been using for the last year shade 4.25 which is a warm tone light-medium shade. See below images of the shade, before and after.

Wearing only Armani Luminous silk foundation in shade 4.25

I’ve been really enjoying using this foundation for months now, I have recently been given for my birthday a new one in shade 4.5 which I can show swatches of over on my instagram if you wish to see that. But it has lightly cooler undertones but a similar depth of shade. I love it I think it matches my skin even better than 4.25. There is no real level of ‘oxidation’ the application colour is true to the shade it wears all day.
