Garnier Hair Food Mask Review

Garnier Hair Food Mask Review

The Garnier Ultimate blends shampoo and conditioner for the longest time were my go-to hair products for their affordability, scent and performance especially on my dry and sensitive scalp. But then in 2021 I moved over to using the curly girl method. This involves using products which are free from silicones and sulphates. This is when I found the Garnier Hair food Masks. There are 6 in total and I have used 4 of them, so please find my Garnier Hair Food Mask Review based on my tried and tested experience.

About Garnier Hair Food Masks

You probably already know roughly what these hair masks are. I thought I would cover some of their claims and their unique selling points. Which will hopefully help you determine which, if any you would like to try first.

The Garnier Hair Food Masks are designed to be a 3-in-1 product which can be used as a mask, conditioner or leave in. The masks are all vegan and 98% biodegradable formula and at least 96% ingredients from natural origins. They key point for me was that these masks don’t include any silicones and can be bought based on your hair needs too.

What is the difference between mask, leave in and conditioner

The difference is all down to the timing and usage of the mask. You can use the mask pre-shampoo to deeply treat and condition the hair before washing. You can do this once to twice per week.

To use as a conditioner, just apply from lengths to roots focussing on the lengths following your usual shampoo and rinse away after 5 minutes. Plus this will help detangle your hair.

Using the mask as a leave in is similar to using as a conditioner. You apply it in a similar way. But the clue is in the name and you do not rinse away and leave the residue in your hair to help tame flyway’s, and create added shine.

The Garnier Hair Food Mask Review

Overall I was really impressed by these hair masks. They cost £3.49 for 390ml which is a real bargain. I love that the different masks address different hair concerns. i.e. the watermelon mask adds body to fine hair and although I don’t need to add volume it definitely did just that. Plus the scent reminded me of those sugary watermelon sweets you got as a child. The banana is nourishing and I do really like the results, but the scent isn’t really for me. The papaya has a divine scent. But my favourite of all is the coconut. I love anything coconut scented and this hair mask is no different. This hair mask is also best for frizzy hair. This is a bonus for me with my fluffy, frizzy wavy hair. I love the shiny and soft feel it leaves your hair with; and I love using this the most either as a mask or as a conditioner. 5 minutes is more than enough time to see results. This is a bonus too, as we don’t all have hours to sit around pampering ourselves.

Some of the other hair masks that I have tried and loved are the silk and bubble growth hair mask and the hair mask from the Umberto Giannini curl collection.
