Cleansing balm Vs Cleansing Butter

Cleansing balm Vs Cleansing Butter

This post was not requested however I thought it was fitting because; 1. You and I both know I have a bit of an obsession with Elemis skincare and 2. I have raved about cleansing balms a lot on here already but I’ve never mentioned a cleansing butter. So I thought it was about time I posted cleansing balm Vs cleansing butter.

Cleansing Balm

Believe it or not I have been using cleansing balms for almost 5 years now. I have a few firm favourites which I will come onto in a moment, but let me tell you why I love a balm so much first. Cleansing balms are perfect for more sensitive and dry skin types. They help nourish the skin whilst their oil based formula melts makeup, dirt and SPF away with ease.

Personally I’ve used multiple types of cleansers. I still like to keep other cleansers in my routine. As you might already know we all love to double cleanse these days to ensure we get the ultimate efficacy out of our skincare. However, your preference on which cleansers you like to use will also be linked to your skin type.

My favourite cleansing balms are top of my list because of either the scent, their formula and/or the overall spa experience they provide. To me scent is important for a cleansing balm. As I like to use these as part of my selfcare routine. My no1. favourite cleansing Balm is the Elemis Pro-collagen cleansing balm which you must have heard me talking about before. I even have a youtube video featuring it. No2 on my favourite balms list would be the Emma Hardie moringa cleansing balm. It has the most beautiful formula and the scent is truly to die for.

Cleansing Butter

A cleansing butter is similar to a balm, however it is more lightweight. This cleansing butter is rich, nourishing and perfect for removing makeup and dirt alike.

The cleansing butter is still luxurious in texture however is often packed with actives. The actives are great for helping you achieve a glow or refining skin texture or all of the above. My favourite is the Elemis superfood AHA glow cleansing butter. It is packed with exfoliating AHAs to help deliver a daily glow and can double up as a deeply hydrating mask too.

My second favourite cleansing butter is The Body Shop camomile cleansing butter, not only does it smell amazing it is gentle and perfect for more sensitive skin types.

I find a cleansing balm is more nourishing and perfect for a dry skin type and I think that the cleansing butter is more lightweight in texture and more suitable for normal to oily skin types. Find out how to determine your skin type here.
