So as December and 2019 as a whole is coming to close. I thought it made sense to do a round-up of the best of 2019 skincare. I will be doing a separate post for the best of 2019 makeup.
This is not a list of the 2019 launches that impressed me. These are products that may have been launched before 2019 but they’re all products I have used either all year or part of the year and have really loved. Yes there will be loads more products that I like and could have added to this list but I am going to try and choose only 1 product for each category.
Best of 2019 – Serum and Facial Oil
As I mentioned above I am going to only include one item for each category. For facial serums however, there is a clear front winner for me. Unless you are subscribed to my Youtube channel you’re probably not even aware that this is in my stash or that I love it so much as I have not written a post on it (yet). The best facial serum of 2019 goes to… Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate
I am not going to lie, this is most certainly not the cheapest product on the market. In fact it is quite expensive but worth every, single, penny! Shiseido are well known for their innovative products and this one is no different. It adds hydration and helps any products following this penetrate the skin deeper than without it.
The Winner of the best facial oil of 2019 goes to….The Clarins Face Treatment Lotus Oil. This one is a far more reasonable price at sub £40 for a full size facial oil. I use this only on an evening following my facial serum. This oil is perfect for those of you like me with combination skin. It helps rebalance the skin and helping fight breakouts, keeping your skin blemish free.
Best Cleanser
This has most certainly got to be the one category that has the most potential choices with some very close runners up. But without hesitation my favourite cleanser is (you guessed it), the Elemis Pro-collagen Cleansing Balm.
If you didn’t guess this as my favourite, where have you been this year? If you had been following me on instagram you will have seen it appear on numerous posts and of course it has featured on my youtube channel, and here on my blog. Find out more of my opinions here.
Best Toner
During the year I have used multiple toners from highstreet right through to high end this year. I was impressed with the Lacura glow tonic dupe from Aldi for the price however I can’t say this was my favourite.
I think the toner I will have to say was my favourite this year was the Clarins toning lotion with iris. This toner does not have any exfoliating acid, and I have tried a few this year which do. I found this helped balance the pH of my skin well and actually reduced the amount of breakouts and redness I was getting.
2019’s Best Moisturiser
This is exceptionally difficult. This year I have tried quite a large number of moisturisers. There have been a lot on my list of creams to try and I made it my 2019 mission to find the perfect moisturiser for my combination mid-20s skin. The One i would choose as my no.1 selection is probably one of the cheapest too but I have mentioned it on multiple occasions accross all my social media platforms so it seems fitting that this is the no.1 choice. The My Clarins Refreshing Hydrating Cream.
I have written multiple posts showcasing this product so if you want to read my first impressions and see the rest of the my clarins range aimed specifically at youthful skin you can find those here. If you want to hear the results I got from using it for a prolonged period you can find those here.
Last But Not Least – Best Eye Cream
this is last on the list but not for any particular reason. In fact it is pretty important that you do use and eye cream and not just use your facial moisturiser in your eye area. The skin around your eye is very thin and delicate and it absorbs the cream differently to the rest of your face so you need to be gentle and plumping. For this reason 2019 brought us all a fantastic innovative eye cream which caught my attention straight away. This is the Clinique moisture surge 96 hour hydro filler eye cream.
2019 has been a great year of skin for me. And I really stepped up my skincare game and tried out a lot of products. I intend to do the same in 2020. However, I think there will be some firm favourites staying with me next year as some of these listed above are going to be hard to say goodbye to.
I would love to hear some of your 2019 skincare favourites. Drop them in the comments below or drop me a message on social media I love to hear your experiences too.
